Уэйн Уильямс — монстр из Атланты
Центральной темой второго сезона «Охотника за разумом» стали убийства чернокожих молодых людей, которые происходили в Атланте с 1979-го по 1981-й. За 2 года было убито более 28 человек, большинство из которых были подростками. В 1981 году полиция арестовала 23-летнего сына учителей Уэйна Уильямса (род. 1958), но смогла доказать его причастность к убийствам лишь 2 мужчин. Уильямс, получивший от СМИ прозвище «Монстр из Атланты» и продолжающий отбывать пожизненный срок в тюрьме, до сих пор отказывается признавать себя виновным. Главными уликами против него стали ворсинки ковровых покрытий, найденные на жертвах, — они совпадали с образцами ворса из ковров, одеяла и обивки салона машины подозреваемого. Уильямс позиционировал себя как музыкального промоутера, искавшего таланты для создания группы, которая могла бы стать новой The Jackson 5. Никаких успехов на этом поприще он достичь не сумел, зато активно знакомился под этим предлогом с детьми на улицах. С арестом Уильямса убийства в Атланте прекратились.

Арест
Энтони Мелвин был арестован 13 января в Харрисон Каунт, штат Миссисипи, и обвинён во владении, доставке и распространении запрещённых веществ, а также во владении огнестрельным оружием после вынесения обвинительного приговора за совершение тяжкого преступления. So this year is the Fortieth Anniversary (1983-2023) of the Melvins. We’ve got a bunch of really cool weird assed releases planned for the year in celebration, but this one might be my favorite as for me it’s pretty much perfect. I swear. The Melvins first single DESTROYED when it came out. It was far meaner, more seething, structurally insane and pushed underground boundaries further than any of their Seattle peers of the era. I ain’t arguing with anyone on this point as I was there at the time. I personally remember it as a game changer and it seriously altered how I was personally approaching music at the time. So I asked Buzz about doing a re-issue of that material as part of this years commemorative releases. He didn’t skip a beat and said “Yeah, and we’ll re-record that material too”. Genius. So the 12” is the songs from the 80’s and the flip-side is the same songs circa NOW. It’s a perfect reflection of the then/now of the band. Glorious. For me there’s times as an artist or musician when you KNOW you nailed it, and I gotta say I was pretty jazzed with art results hitting it square in the nuts for this, a high bar, as excited as I am about this release. It’s kinda the perfect culmination of our working relationship that has spanned damn near the full 40 years these creeps have been at it. Yeah yeah it’s rooted in nostalgia neither the band or I usually have a lot of time for, but also showing the creative vitality us dinosaurs can still muster as we continue to indelicately stomp around.
What we can learn from Melvin Anthony
Melvin Anthony taught us that circumstances don’t define a person’s future. He grew up in a very rough environment, with criminals and drug dealers in the neighborhood, not knowing what the next day would bring, and yet he became a worldwide successful bodybuilder.
He taught us not to limit ourselves, and to keep going if we find ourselves in a bad situations. With enough perseverance and passion, just like Melvin, you too could build your own physique of greatness, or overcome any of life’s uncertainties.

Early life
Anthony was born in 1973 in Sacramento, California, which is in the northern interior part of the state away from the glitz of Los Angeles. He grew up around drug addicts and gangs and found it hard to survive, with many of his friends ending up in jail or dead. Wanting to look like his crime-hardened older peers, he started to train with bodyweight exercises at first and built a nice physique by the time he was 15 years old.
He then met a man who took him under his wing and convinced him he had a gift for bodybuilding and encouraged him to dial in his diet and start training for real at a gym. One of his mentors around that time was John Brown, who also mentored other pro bodybuilders. Once he was in high school he was ahead of his peers and was able to excel at football. He turned that into a scholarship to play football in college.
After a football injury cut his career short, he went to weight training full time and set his sights on competing. In 1993, he got 3rd place at Musclemania and placed at various small competitions before taking a break for a few years.
Training
When it comes to repetition range, Melvin has tried it all. After many years of trial and error, he believes that going for the 8-12 reps when training the upper body is the best way to build muscle.
According to him, doing 3-6 reps results in considerable strength increase, but isn’t followed by increase in size. On the other hand, doing more than 12 reps usually won’t cause as much growth as a standard, 8-12 repetition range.
Melvin claims that the most optimal way to train is to use the weights that are not so heavy that the tendons and joints are getting more work than the muscle, but also, not to use weights that are too light.
When asked about high-repetition philosophy, Melvin said; “I just know what works for me and just about everybody else I have ever known. The only reason I’d ever consider going with higher reps is if I was injured and had to choose between using lighter weights or not training at all.“ – Melvin Anthony

Биография
Мелвин Энтони родился 13 ноября 1973 года в Сакраменто, штат Калифорния. В детстве и раннем подростковом возрасте у Мелвина было много проблем. Он жил по соседству с преступниками и наркоманами и рассказывал, как порой было трудно выжить. В 18 лет Мелвин начал заниматься американским футболом. У него был большой опыт работы с тяжестями, но не было никаких знаний в футболе. Тем не менее, он решил попробовать.
Футбольная карьера Мелвина продолжалась недолго, поскольку он быстро понял, что этот вид спорта не является его главной страстью, и ему не нравились физические нагрузки, связанные с ним. После победы на Musclemania Мелвин продолжал участвовать в региональных и местных шоу, сделав перерыв в выступлениях на большой сцене на 5 лет. В течение этого времени он готовился представить свою лучшую форму и надеялся выиграть Pro Card.
Он вернулся на сцену в 1998 году, приняв участие в чемпионате NPC США 1998 года в категории супертяжеловесов, где занял 2-е место, не сумев выиграть шоу и получить Про-карту. Prison
Starting in 2015, Anthony had a rough couple of years dealing with the law. He moved to Mississippi to take a job working at a hotel, and got caught driving under the influence and with methamphetamines along with firearm charges.
In 2017, Anthony was again busted for distribution of a controlled substance, which was thought to be ecstasy, and also for possession of a firearm post felony conviction. Since he had a criminal history, and Mississippi isn’t a very forgiving state when it comes to drugs, this time he got nailed for a 10-year sentence. He has been released as of 2020, having served around 3 years, and says his sentence was marijuana and ‘pill’ related and he has paid his debt to society.
He has since been extremely upset with friends who talked badly behind his back and spreaded false rumors about his situation. He went on a very timid and scared Dave Palumbo’s show, and called out his haters and said the reason he got hammered so badly in court was he refused to snitch. Dave appeared to try his best not to step on egg shells during the interview.

Психиатрическая экспертиза выявила у него признаки умеренной умственной отсталости. Смертный приговор убийце вызвал споры: 11 из 12 членов присяжных были белыми и высказывали расистские мнения.
